It is understood that the affected WeChat users basically register through India’s local mobile phone number. If they register with a Chinese mobile phone number, they will not be affected.

On the evening of June 29, the Indian government suddenly announced the prohibition of 59 “Chinese apps” including TikTok, WeChat, Weibo, QQ mailbox, UC browser, etc. in India. The reason is These apps will endanger India’s “sovereign integrity, national security and public order”.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times on July 24, officials familiar with the situation revealed that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India has decided to ban another batch of apps from being used in India. Most of these apps have a Chinese background. These applications include Helo Lite, SHAREit Lite, Bigo Lite and VFY Lite. According to its introduction, these apps have been removed from the Google App Store and Apple App Store.
