VIGA’s 2015 KBC Exhibition Plans: A Ceramic Cartridge Buyer Guide

What the 2015 KBC announcement records

Published on 23 June 2015, this announcement stated that VIGA planned to participate again in the Shanghai Kitchen and Bath Show. It described a customer-focused approach to kitchen and bathroom product development, with ceramic components, particularly faucet cartridges, identified as a focus for that year.

For importers, distributors and hotel project buyers, this provides historical context for discussing cartridge selection. It does not establish current model availability or verified performance. Related historical entries include the 2014 KBC exhibition archive and the 2016 KBC exhibition archive; these should be read as exhibition records, not product specifications.

Match the cartridge to the intended application

Before comparing offers, specify whether the purchase covers complete faucets or replacement cartridges. A hotel basin faucet, a kitchen mixer and a distributor’s replacement-parts range can require different operating arrangements and service support.

  • Operating conditions: Request the proposed model’s approved pressure and temperature ranges, then compare them with the project requirements.
  • Control function: Confirm whether the cartridge controls mixing, flow or another function, together with the intended handle movement and shutoff position.
  • Water-use requirements: If water consumption matters to the project, request flow information for the complete faucet under stated conditions. Ceramic construction alone does not establish water savings.

These checks help prevent a purchasing decision based only on the phrase “ceramic cartridge,” which does not define a complete faucet’s suitability.

Confirm interfaces before approving substitutions

For replacement cartridges, request a dimensioned drawing and the manufacturer’s compatibility documentation. Check body dimensions, locating features, inlet and outlet arrangement, seal positions, stem connection and handle travel against the intended faucet. Similar appearance is insufficient evidence of fit.

For complete faucets, also confirm mounting requirements, supply connections and installation access using the model’s approved documentation. For hotel projects, ask how the cartridge can be accessed for servicing and whether the proposed installation leaves the required clearance. Record the approved cartridge reference against each faucet model so that later spare-parts orders can be matched accurately.

Use samples and reports to assess performance claims

The original announcement emphasized smooth operation, sealing and durability. Buyers should translate those broad claims into evidence requests for the specific model being quoted.

  • Ask for an assembled faucet sample, where applicable, to assess handle movement, shutoff position, looseness and consistency of operating feel.
  • Request leakage and operating-durability reports that identify the tested model, test conditions, method and acceptance criteria.
  • Ask whether any cycle-life claim concerns the cartridge alone or the complete faucet, and how leakage and operating force were assessed during testing.
  • Agree on sample inspection conditions and order acceptance criteria before approval, including how nonconforming units will be handled.

A demonstration of smooth movement cannot by itself establish long service life. Likewise, a cycle count without defined conditions is a weak basis for comparing suppliers.

Control order consistency and replacement parts

Record the approved faucet and cartridge references, relevant drawing revisions and sample approval details in the purchase specification. Agree how proposed component substitutions will be disclosed and approved. This helps reduce the risk of later batches requiring different handles, seals or replacement parts.

Ask how spare cartridges will be identified and protected in packaging, which associated seals or fittings are included, and what maintenance documentation is available. For distributors carrying several visually similar models, clear part labels and a documented faucet-to-cartridge reference list can reduce picking errors and incorrect replacements. Confirm replacement availability and ordering terms rather than assuming them from the exhibition history.

Prepare a model-specific quotation request

Include the intended application, destination market, faucet models or drawings, quantities, operating conditions and any project acceptance requirements. State whether the quotation should include complete faucets, spare cartridges or both, and request the relevant datasheets, compatibility information and supporting reports.

Use the VIGA quotation enquiry page to submit these requirements and ask which currently offered models can be documented against them.
