Key Facts About the G-Mark
- Member Countries: Required for products entering Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and Yemen.
- Main Product Categories: Mandatory for low-voltage electrical equipment/appliances and children’s toys.
- Tracking Symbol: Must include a Gulf Conformity Tracking Symbol (GCTS) QR code for digital product verification.
- Purpose: Acts as a legal trade passport rather than a mark of premium quality.
Steps to Get G-Mark
Step 1: Product Testing (Water Efficiency & Safety)
You must submit faucet samples to an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory. The testing focuses on:
- Flow Rate & Water Efficiency: Measuring water consumption (liters per minute) to ensure it satisfies GCC green thresholds.
- Mechanical & Material Safety: Verifying that mechanical parts endure pressure and that the metals used do not leach harmful chemicals or heavy metals into drinking water.
Step 2: Appoint a GSO Notified Body
You cannot register the product yourself. You must partner with an authorized, third-party certification agency known as a Notified Body (such as SGS and TUV)
Step 3: Prepare and Submit the Technical Dossier
Your chosen Notified Body will review your technical files. You must provide:
- The Lab Test Reports from Step 1.
- Detailed Technical Drawings and product descriptions (materials, thread specifications—typically G1/2 BSP threads for the Middle East).
- Factory Quality Certificates (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Bilingual Labeling Drafts (Product information and instructions must be in both English and Arabic).
Step 4: System Registration & GCC Green Label Issuance
Once the Notified Body approves the technical documentation, they will upload the file to the official Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) portal.
- The system generates a unique QR code (GCTS) for traceability.
- You will be issued the official GCC Green Label, which displays a star-rating indicating the faucet’s water efficiency.
- Action: You must permanently engrave or print this GCC Green Label and QR code on the faucet packaging and/or the product body itself.
Step 5: Obtain a Shipment Certificate of Conformity (CoC)
The product registration (Step 4) covers the product design, but Qatar Customs also requires a consignment-specific Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for every physical shipment entering the country.
- Before the container leaves your factory, your inspection agency will perform a final shipment audit to match your commercial invoice and packing list against your active GCC Green Label registration.

As a capable faucet manufacturer, we have been assisting customers from Gulf countries with G‑mark applications over the past two years. We are familiar with the G‑mark application procedures and can provide product test reports issued by TUV or SGS upon clients’ requests. Should clients require, we can supply samples for them to apply for the certificate independently in their home country.
