Single-Hole Faucet Installation: Contractor Checks and Project Handover

For a hotel fit-out or other multi-unit project, consistent installation starts before the faucets arrive on site. The contractor and purchasing team should agree the sink interface, connection details, supplied parts and acceptance checks for the exact model.

1. Confirm the installation drawing

Check the required mounting hole, permitted deck thickness, spout reach and handle clearance. Compare these with the approved basin and countertop drawing. Confirm access below the basin for the fixing and supply connections before releasing the procurement schedule.

2. Check the delivered kit

Match the model, finish, hoses, gasket, fixing and any drain assembly to the approved parts list. Report missing or mismatched items before installation. Do not substitute a similar-looking hose or mounting component without checking compatibility.

3. Prepare and isolate the work area

Follow the model’s installation instructions, protect the basin and finish, and isolate the water supply before work. Confirm that isolation is effective. Damaged or seized supply fittings should be assessed by a qualified installer rather than forced into service.

4. Mount using the specified parts

Fit the gasket and fixing arrangement as shown in the instructions. Position the spout and handle correctly and support the hoses without kinks or strain. Use the specified tightening method; extra force is not a substitute for the correct mounting hardware.

5. Identify how each water connection seals

Do not apply thread tape to every threaded-looking joint. A connection may seal with a gasket, an O-ring, a compression arrangement or the specified threaded sealing method. Follow the exact connection instructions. For example, Delta’s DST supply guidance explicitly says not to use pipe dope or other sealants on those water-line connections. This model-specific example shows why a universal tape instruction is unreliable.

6. Flush and verify operation

Carry out flushing and initial operation in the sequence specified for the model. Restore the supply carefully and check all accessible joints, the area below the basin, control movement and outlet behaviour. Record and correct any leakage before the unit is handed over.

7. Complete the handover record

Record the installed model and location, checks completed, outstanding defects and service-parts references. Give facility staff the cleaning and maintenance instructions. For repeated rooms, use the same checklist and keep the approved sample installation available for comparison.
