Counterfeit Sanitary Ware: Buyer Checks Before Ordering

A logo, low price or familiar product photograph is not enough to establish the origin of sanitary ware. For a project or repeat purchase, build a record that connects the supplier, quoted model, approved sample and delivered goods.

Verify who is making the offer

Record the legal supplier name and contact details shown on the quotation. If branded goods are offered through a reseller, confirm the claimed relationship with the brand through its official contact channel. Resolve inconsistencies before relying on the offer.

Match documents to the exact model

Compare the model number and specifications across the quotation, drawing, packaging and any certificate or test report. Where certification is required, verify the listing with the issuing organisation and check its scope. A document for a different model or company does not establish the status of the product being purchased.

Approve a traceable sample

Keep photographs of the complete sample, labels, packaging and identifying marks. Record the components supplied and the drawing revision used for approval. For a mixed order, do this for each agreed configuration rather than treating one sample as evidence for an entire catalogue.

Make the delivery check repeatable

  • Compare model and finish references with the approved order.
  • Check the included fittings and accessories against the component list.
  • Record batch or other traceability information where supplied.
  • Document visible discrepancies before installation.
  • Follow the agreed inspection and reporting process for any mismatch.

Do not confuse a warning sign with proof

A low price, unfamiliar packaging or a visual difference is a reason to investigate, not a conclusive authentication test. Conversely, a convincing logo or a polished finish does not establish provenance. Seek confirmation from the responsible supplier or brand and retain the supporting records.

For OEM or private-label enquiries

Agree which brand, model identifiers and packaging artwork will be used and who supplies them. Keep the approved specification with the order. For VIGA product enquiries, request documentation for the actual proposed model rather than relying on a general statement about the factory.
