A lower faucet quotation is meaningful only when the compared offers cover the same product and delivery scope. Importers, distributors and project buyers should first define a common specification, then ask suppliers to identify any deviations explicitly.
Compare the product configuration
- Model and drawings: mounting arrangement, dimensions, connections and intended use.
- Materials: which components use each specified material, with the required supporting documentation.
- Cartridge and moving parts: the offered references, configuration and service availability.
- Finish: finish code, approved reference sample and agreed appearance criteria.
- Included items: hoses, fixings, outlet components, drains, adapters and any electronic parts.
Weight, shine or a broad material label does not establish the complete specification. Do not treat a higher price as proof of a longer service life or a lower price as proof that a product is defective.
Separate product cost from project services
Ask whether the quotation includes samples, tooling, logo marking, packaging development, testing, inspection and spare parts. State which documents and reports are required and which exact models they must cover. If customisation is requested, agree the approval process and responsibility for changes before comparing the total offers.
Put inspection requirements in writing
Describe the approved sample, appearance checks, dimensional checks and functional verification expected for the order. Agree the sampling or inspection arrangement and the evidence to be supplied. A supplier’s general quality statement does not replace an agreed acceptance procedure for the shipment.
Align the commercial assumptions
Use the same quantity, product mix, packaging basis and delivery scope when requesting prices. Confirm quotation validity, payment arrangements, production timing after approvals and warranty terms. Ask suppliers to list exclusions rather than assuming every offer includes transport, installation or local approval costs.
Use a comparison sheet for the decision
Create one row per requirement and record each supplier’s offered configuration, supporting document and outstanding question. Mark a blank answer as unconfirmed, not as an included feature. Resolve specification differences before negotiating the final price.
This approach is more useful than generic price bands or promises that a particular price tier will last a fixed number of years. The purchasing decision should be based on the documented model, agreed acceptance criteria and the buyer’s actual requirements.
